Arrival in Plymouth

প্ৰকাশিত: 21.06.2018

After nearly 4 hours train ride from Paddington Station, the journey was temporarily interrupted, the train would not have continued. The weather is beautiful here too, although the constant wind is slightly stronger than in London.

The accommodation, this time a B&B because there are apparently no hostels here, was about 20 minutes walk from the train station, but located directly at Hoe park. The Hoe park offers a fantastic view of the strait, which is also the entrance to the naval base (Her Majesty's Naval Base Devenport). Furthermore, there was a motorcycle and classic car meeting on the promenade when I arrived, which added even more life to the whole park.

In Plymouth, an estimated 9 out of 10 people under 30 move around the city on a skateboard or longboard, and you immediately notice upon arrival that this place is not even comparable to London. Despite its size, everything is much more rural here, slightly less international, and above all more patriotic when it comes to the naval base. However, like in most university cities in England, there is a complete district reserved for students and this cheap housing is heavily advertised. Something that Switzerland could perhaps learn from.

Originally, I had only planned to stay here for one night and then continue to Dartmoor, but I have now spontaneously extended my stay for 2 days. Unfortunately, I will have to move again tomorrow because my current accommodation was already fully booked.
