Bangkok...
Long time ago but we try to remember... from Khao Sok this time we took a much more comfortable sleeper bus back to Bangkok. Where we welcomed our dear friend Mia the next day. Driven by new energy, we visited a really beautiful temple complex and the adjacent massage school. Here we all got a full body massage. Some of us felt fantastic afterwards, others felt rather abused. On the last evening, we went to Khaosan Road again, where Daria and Mia went into a shopping frenzy. And last but not least, we also dared to try the local snacks... maggots... hmm, delicious. Only Isa refused, she strictly rejected it. After these two eventful days, we went to the airport. Where we bid farewell to our beloved Daria and continued our journey to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand.
Chiang Mai...
After a warm welcome in our very first homestay, we set out to find a delicious curry. But we were mistaken, it wasn't that easy here in the north. So after a really rough order, we received three small bowls of... well what was it actually?! We tried to spoon up the spicy soup with the strange vegetables, but it was impossible for us... Hungry, we went out to explore Chiang Mai at night. However, the strains of the flight made us go back to our beds relatively early.
The next day, we walked through the city well-rested and discovered beautiful temples, small cafes, and were surprised by the difference between the two cities. In the afternoon, we took a tuk-tuk and bus along a winding road to Wat Phra temple. The clear air up here allowed us to breathe again for the first time in a long while. The steep climb was rewarded with a great view over the city and a beautiful temple complex. After this wonderful experience, we drove back to the city full of energy and decided to make a detour to the food and night market, where we also fell into a shopping frenzy this time, with really great stuff. :)
Pai...
The next day, we set off in a minibus for the legendary journey to the small village of Pai. Thousands of curves and 3 hours later, we arrived slightly battered in the mountain village.
More report and photos to follow when we are well-rested. :)
