'A beach is the place where heaven, sea and earth meet and enchant people'

Just a few minutes from our accommodation there was a small beach that we explored. It was still quite early and the way to this beach was a bumpy ride, so there weren't many people there. And what a sight it was. Unlike the evening before, the sun was shining this morning and what was presented to us was a sight for the gods. The volcanic ash shimmered brilliantly black under the sun, mixing with the sea in a changing mixture of foaming white and icy blue. The rays of the sun made the gray cliffs appear friendlier and the waves rose as if to prove that they can climb just as high as the rocks. Standing by the sea and seeing the sun sparkle on the water where the sea and the horizon meet is always beautiful, but I felt that it was even more impressive in this place. An almost unreal beauty that takes your breath away. I could have looked at this scene forever. But sometimes eternity consists only of many small moments and this one was over. Yvonne and I took advantage of this great place - climbed over rocks into a small bay and had a photo shoot before we continued.

We went to the Black Beach again to be able to admire it in good weather. Here too, we took many photos and relaxed between cliffs and sea before we set off to the next cliffs.

We drove through the sea on a road and up a small serpentine road to reach the top of Dyrholaey. It was incredibly windy! I could hardly keep my eyes open, it was that bad. But the view was great! We looked down on the beach where we had just run barefoot a few minutes ago, the rock peaks on one side and the hole in the rock on the other. We saw from the side how blue and black met again and again. Unfortunately, we didn't see the puffins as they only breed there in the summer (definitely another reason to come back!)

On the way back to Reykjavik, it was lightly raining as we drove through places soaked in sunshine - rainbow time! And indeed, we saw two rainbows stretching across the landscape, bringing a multitude of colors to the landscape that we had so often seen shrouded in fog. They were strong rainbows and perhaps some of the most beautiful I have ever seen - big and powerful and beautiful, just like Iceland itself.

We also made another stop at the waterfall Seljalandsfoss because of the nice weather. We had already seen this one but only in the rain (the waterfall that could be seen from behind) and in sunny weather, there is a chance to see rainbow colors in the splashing spray. And we were lucky! It's really pretty how the colors form in the water and create a mini-rainbow in front of the waterfall. I'm glad we made this stop!

And then we went to Reykjavik! Luckily, I didn't have to drive into the city! After driving calmly on a single road for days, the many cars and multi-lane roads of the capital are really not easy to navigate. But Yvonne did well and we made it to our accommodation in one piece.
