Last week we mainly watched football, went to the Aquapark in Lima and spent an afternoon with Pisco Sour.
After 6 weeks in Lima, we said goodbye yesterday. I was more happy than sad because I was incredibly excited about Cusco and I didn't want to spend any more time in Lima. Nevertheless, it was strange because I lived in Lima for 6 weeks and the relationship with the students and teachers was incredibly good.
Generally, when I compare the school in San Francisco with the school in Lima, I can say that the organization and teaching in Lima was much better and more effective.
However, I didn't like the city so much and I missed the sun a lot, which is why I was so excited about Cusco.
Yesterday at 2:30 p.m., my bus from Lima to Cusco left. From 140 meters above sea level, it went up to 3400 meters in 23 hours. Last night, I had a little circulation problems, probably because of the sudden altitude difference. Nevertheless, it was worth taking the bus as it drove up the Andes and the landscape was breathtaking.
This morning, Ronny's girlfriend (landlord in Lima) picked me up from the bus station. She is currently working in Cusco for 6 weeks, which is why she is also in Cusco at the moment. Afterwards, we drove to my accommodation. For the next 6 weeks, I will be living here in a shared apartment with a communal kitchen and lounge. There are 5 other rooms, each with its own bathroom. It is incredibly quiet here and my room is also very clean and "luxurious". My "roommates" introduced themselves to me and they are really nice.
After freshening up a bit, we went to a festival with a traditional show and had Peruvian food. The day was quite exhausting because I had a headache and my heart was beating a bit faster. But also because Carmen, Ronny's girlfriend, doesn't speak English and we spoke only Spanish all day.
My first impression of Cusco: I love Cusco. Beautiful squares, a beautiful city, and finally it is really as you imagine Peru to be. My apartment is also great, so now I just have to wait and see what the school will be like.
