So yesterday we went to the beach! In the morning, the cat joined Elia and she had no intention of leaving. Even after breakfast when we went to the beach, she followed us. I kind of knew she wasn't supposed to, but what could we do? 🤷🏻♀️.
She stayed with me on the beach and I made sure she didn't go near the water. One wave and the little kitten would have been gone.... But it was quite tricky keeping an eye on her. A nice change from all the dogs 😜
The children and Marco enjoyed the high waves while Mom was more cautious because we were really warned a trillion times. About the undertow.
Eventually, I also jumped into the waves. It just looked too much fun and we noticed that at low tide (yes, Costa Rica has tides) it was actually doable.
But then I went back to continue with my vacation reading. With 50 euros around the world... Christopher tells the story of his 4-year world journey that he started with only 50 euros and that actually took him through all the world's seas and an incredible number of cultures and countries.
Suddenly I heard Marco's whistle. I looked up and there it was. A humpback whale baby jumping happily through the bay. Directly followed by its mom who was watching over it and occasionally slapping the sea with her fin. Unfortunately, I can't upload videos here. It was simply breathtaking. Tears welled up in my eyes. How small and insignificant we humans are. How big and beautiful creation is. It was time to enjoy the moment, capture it, and keep it forever.
At noon, the tide came in and the waves became more dangerous. Luckily, my husband noticed and took the boys out in time. Finally, it wasn't me spoiling the fun 😜.
Today, many things went differently than planned. Marco explored the area with Elia and they spotted monkeys. I was incapacitated by diarrhea until noon. Just before leaving, I took an Imodium, which thankfully kicked in right away. Then it hit Elia 🙈 On the way to the taxi boat, we were surprised by a whole family of capuchin monkeys. We later found out that it wasn't a good idea to let them come so close to us because when they get angry, they throw their feces at people 🥸. Luckily, we were spared. The boat ride went well (well, in the sense of no vomiting or diarrhea) and during the one-hour journey to Uvita, we had to stop 4 times to bless the roadside ditch. Now he's asleep and I think we've overcome the worst. I'm feeling better already.
I did, however, cancel the surf lesson for Elia and me tomorrow morning at seven o'clock. We should be 100% fit for that.
We'll see what tomorrow brings. Maybe just resting for a while.
Goodnight, my loves!
