Day 16 - we say goodbye

প্ৰকাশিত: 02.08.2017

The last day is over. It's hot again, humid again, and not a drop of rain. Sometimes I think the rumors about 'rainy seasons' are just a myth. In Vietnam, it never rained, and here it has maybe rained 4 times for a maximum of one hour each. That's a joke. From what I've heard from home, the rainy season starts right at the beginning of the holidays. That's why we don't really want to go back. But deep down, of course, we want to go back. Many people are waiting for us there. Especially my beloved and my parents and friends, etc. But in just 4 days, I'll be back in Bavaria. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate a bit there. You can tell that my thoughts are already somewhere else other than Thailand. That's also a sign that the end is near.

About today: The plan was as follows. First, take a taxi to the workshop, then stroll and shop, then shower, then eat, have a drink, pack, sleep. Now the question arises, why the workshop? Well, it's an open secret that Daniel prefers to spend all his money on chrome pipes and screws and stuff, instead of diamonds for me. And recently he bought a thing, big, heavy, and shiny, I think it's an intake manifold. Well, he had it imported from Thailand. And when I saw where exactly this thing came from, I thought it was quite close to us. So why not drive there and take a photo of the workshop where this thing was bent and welded. So that's what I set out to do. We got in the taxi and... drove about 1.5 hours to the workshop. So much for 'quite close'. When we arrived, I went to the office where the aunt and the owner's wife were, who understood me a little bit. The workers, of course, had no idea what I wanted. I explained to them why I ambushed them like this and why I urgently needed a photo of the workshop, and when they finally understood me, they found it quite funny, and I was allowed to take photos. So that was the experience of the day. The way back was faster... only one hour. Nevertheless, the whole action only cost 17€. Great.

The rest of the day was relatively uneventful. We did some shopping and then went for dinner. However, the following happened:

We were sitting and eating. Then we wanted to pay, but we didn't have enough. No problem, there are ATM machines EVERYWHERE here, so there's always cash available. I quickly went to the first ATM... No money. To the second ATM... No money. Reason: Of course, at the end of the trip, we wanted to have as little money left as possible, so we only withdrew small amounts throughout the day. But definitely 3 times. And the smart computer thought it was fishy that I wanted to have money more than 3 times a day and blocked me. Dumb. What now? Vera tried her credit card, didn't work. We wanted to exchange euros, but the exchange office closed 5 minutes earlier. It was driving us crazy. We were about to ask other tourists if they could exchange euros to baht for us when Vera tried her EC card again. Now we had money again. Thank God. Not a lot, but it was enough for dinner, two cocktails, two foot massages, two coconut ice creams, and one more (!) beer. After that, we were broke again. But it was enough. Just quickly pack and then sleep.
