Past Lake Prespa, we reached Lake Ohrid with the setting sun - the undisputed highlight of Macedonia. In pitch-dark night, we parked at a free parking lot that offered us two unexpected surprises the next morning. On one hand, the view here over the lake to Albania was spectacular, despite a short rain shower that forced us to have breakfast in the car. On the other hand, just around the corner was the Bay of Bones Museum, which we initially didn't know much about, but from here we could already see its uniqueness: a Bronze Age village built on wooden poles above the lake. Only about twenty years ago, divers accidentally discovered some remains of this settlement, prompting Macedonian archaeologists to attempt a reconstruction using ancient sources. Whether even remotely accurate or more imaginative: a real eye-catcher!
