Once Thailand, always Thailand!

What can I say? The two weeks in Thailand went by way too quickly. I would have loved to stay for a third week. And a fourth...and a fifth... But eventually reality catches up with you. So we had to pack our bags with heavy hearts and travel back to Germany. Here's a little recap of two of the most beautiful weeks of our lives:

The Hotel

We were completely satisfied with the Laguna Resort in Khao Lak and would gladly spend another vacation there. The best part is simply the location of the pool, where you have a wonderful view of the sea!

The People

The Thais are an incredibly friendly people! Thailand is rightly known as 'the Land of Smiles'. Truly incomparable to Germany. After our vacation in Thailand, I immediately noticed how unfriendly and grumpy everyone is in Germany... Moreover, Thailand is an absolutely safe travel destination. We felt completely comfortable and never had a bad feeling even in the dark. We also never had the impression of being ripped off. Unbeatable!

The Food

We actually ate only local cuisine for two weeks, which is definitely light and healthy! Unfortunately, during my stay, I realized that I don't find coriander or lemongrass particularly tasty. Which is not really an advantage, as these ingredients are included in almost every dish there... I also can't handle spicy food. That pretty much excludes every curry for me, as even the mild Massaman Curry is too spicy for my taste. I tried a few times and I think I only got one that was actually okay. So I stuck to noodle and rice dishes. You should try Pad Thai! There are also plenty of restaurants with Western food in Khao Lak.

Weather

We were really lucky with the weather! Despite the rainy season (even though it was already coming to an end), we mostly had beautiful weather. It rained more often in the afternoon, but it quickly passed. We always stayed dry on our excursions! However, keep in mind that it can go differently as well.

Excursions

In the two weeks, we did a total of four guided tours, all of which we booked through the travel organizer. These tours are carried out by Khao Lak Land Discovery, where you can also book directly at the office:

- Khao Sok National Park

- Similan Islands

- Phi Phi Islands

- Phang Nga Bay

We also did some exploring on our own:

- Bang Niang Market

- Lamru National Park

- White Sand Beach

On average, we were out exploring every other day. So despite having a package vacation, we were never bored ;)

Summary

I can only say that we had an unforgettable time in Thailand. I hardly need to mention that I have lost my heart to this wonderful country and this definitely should not have been the last time. Once Thailand, always Thailand!
