2 From Bamberg to the Main loop - From beer to wine

Finally it started 'properly' - because even though there were admittedly some doubts along the way, the anticipation of the little adventure outweighed them by far :) 

And here too, the start was made super easy for me again, my dad accompanied me for a few kilometers so I didn't have to worry about the perfect route and the weather was great again! 

The first section had hardly any altitude meters and led me on a well-developed and well-signposted cycle path initially to Burgebrach, then on to Burgwindheim and Ebrach. 

After Ebrach, it became noticeable that I was gradually leaving Beer Franconia and had arrived in Wine Franconia :D At the top of one of the largest hills, however, a wonderful surprise awaited me, because I came directly past the treetop path in the Steigerwald! After a short lunch break in the beer garden there, I decided to take the time to explore the treetop path. 

And I was so impressed! The views, the well-prepared information and the whole facility! I can highly recommend a visit there. The flood of pictures probably says it all ;)

After that, I continued briskly uphill and downhill through idyllic towns like Oberschwarzach, Gerolzhofen, and Volkach. There, I stocked up on dinner and shortly thereafter enjoyed finally reaching a river and taking a short break on the 'Main beach'.

Then I had to cross the same river on a small ferry, where I was the only passenger - a private water taxi, so to speak ;) The last kilometers on the other side of the river were really challenging, as it went steep up the vineyards. But the effort was more than worth it, because there was a perfect spot at the top for camping with a magnificent view!

The night was a bit more exciting than my first one between Regensburg and Hollfeld, because at some point a - as I suspect - loudly shouting deer came running and simply ran against my tent... But luckily there was nothing to see on the tent, nor any injured deer nearby, so my scare was probably the biggest thing about the whole situation :D

All in all, another completely successful day, where I couldn't get the smile off my face :)
