and we thought we were in America...how wrong could we be - we are in Denmark!?! Soon after our departure from Santa Barbara we reached the small village Solvang. The village was founded only in the last century by danish immigrants. Very charming and full of danish pastry and goods - very worthy for a pit stop. Proceeding on Highway 1 alongside the nicest Coastroad of the world with impressive Viewpoints and rough cliffs we reached Oceano around midday where we had lunch in a old train. We had an appointment at 3 with the Xtreme Hummer Adventures so we used the time cleverly in a outlet shopping mal ;-) At 3pm we were picked up by the Hummer and proceeded to the Prismo dunes for a off road experience. It was amazing fun. 90% of the dunes are part of natural reserve, but 10% are released for the public. There were so many campers all with their extreme offroad gears. Even the smallest ones were on cross wheels... Zoë wasn't to impressed at the beginning ... until the driver really started. She screamed 'f****' and had an absolute ball till the end. Such good fun.
Then we progressed to Morro Bay and stopped on the way at the legendary Madonna Inn. Every room of the 100 rooms is differently decorated. The entrance and the bathrooms were just incredibly decorated - american kitsch but somehow nice. Finally we reached Morro Bay, briefly checked in at the Motel and progressed to the harbor. We spotted many sealions taking in the last sunray's of the day.
We had dinner at a fish restaurant at the harbor and could not believe what we experienced today...
