San Francisco, February 6, 2023, Day 1

Wɔatintim: 07.02.2023

In the morning we had to go through US immigration again. In the US, since 9/11, this means that everyone on board has to go through the control. Once everyone is off the ship, the ship is inspected and after the inspection, the crew and the people who don't actually want to go ashore can return to the ship. Unfortunately, this already cost us an hour until we were off the ship.

Then we took the tram to Fisherman's Wharf at Pier 39 and checked out the tourist trap and especially the sea lions there.

Afterwards, we walked to the Powell & Mason cable car line at Ghiradelli Square and rode it to the terminal at the corner of Market Street, Eddy Street, and Powell Street. It is one of the three remaining cable car lines.

From there, we took the metro and bus to the Twin Peaks and walked up. The sky was blue, the temperature pleasant, and accordingly, the view was fantastic.

Then we took the bus and tram to the Powell & Hyde cable car line and checked out the typical San Francisco houses and the Lombard Street.

After a short stop on our ship, we met Heinz and Andrea and went out for Italian food with them.

Although San Francisco has gained a few additional skyscrapers, overall, the cityscape has changed very little since our last visits 30 years ago. Many things have become slightly more upscale and tidier.

Let's see what we will explore tomorrow.
