Since we couldn't find an affordable accommodation in Punta del Este, which is currently completely overcrowded, we decided to go for the complete opposite, Punta del Diablo - and we don't regret it.
Everyone is welcome here;)
The small seaside resort is also located on the Atlantic coast, about 300km from Montevideo in the southeast of Uruguay.
Not surprisingly, today primarily young alternative people, but also families from Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil like to come to the former hippie village to relax on the beautiful sandy beach or hang out in one of the nice beach bars.
Here you can find everything except stress. It's hot and everything takes its time. After almost 2 months in South America, we now know that the clocks tick differently here;). For example, even if people are already queuing in an ice cream shop, the sellers apparently do not feel compelled to work particularly quickly because of that. They joke with each other or check their phones in between, everything - just not hurry. This doesn't cause any annoyance for those waiting patiently, they are happily looking forward to the ice cream and nothing else...
After three cozy days with lots of sun, long walks on the beach, ice cream and delicious cocktails, we continued to Chuy on the border with Brazil, and from there straight to Porto Alegre...
