Waking up way too early due to excitement, we had breakfast at 5 a.m. and set off on our way. Through the large eucalyptus forest, past the airport, and then from the 'Hill of Happiness', the enormous cathedral could be seen. After another 5 km, I arrived. Many were crying, many were laughing, everyone was congratulating and hugging each other. I was able to experience a great atmosphere in great sunshine.
The city was full of tourists. Some of them come to see the pilgrims arrive. Many tourists also come to the pilgrim mass.
So queues formed at the entrance of the cathedral. I managed to get in at the last moment.
The pilgrim mass was, of course, in Spanish. I didn't understand much, but the ritual was still beautiful.
There was also a long queue for the issuance of the Compostela. Unfortunately, Fiona didn't receive a certificate. I don't think she minds.
Then we wanted to take the train home. But the trains were too crowded due to a Spanish public holiday on Friday. I couldn't buy a ticket.
Long live BlaBlaCar! I'm traveling to Madrid today. I will arrive around 11:30 p.m. We will spend the night in a waiting hall and tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. we will head to Paris. Again with BlaBlaCar.
