Wɔatintim: 14.07.2024

After the break we continue today to the south of Brasov.

Overview of today's stage

After I have somewhat understood the PET deposit system in Romania, I drive the E60 and 1, which is in a permanent traffic jam. It's good that a motorcycle can always somehow weave its way through.

I was approached by drivers who had been stuck in a traffic jam here for over an hour. And that was at 38°C. At these temperatures, even my smartphone shut down every 10 minutes due to overheating. It's stupid when the navigation is running over it 🥴

Peles Castle

The place near Peles Castle is called Cumpātu and somehow reminds me of Bad Homburg - only there is a lot going on here.

Pelisor Castle

Tourists from all over the world are standing on each other's feet here. It wasn't worth it, because the castle is well packaged and is being renovated. Very annoying for those who didn't know this beforehand.

Further south.

Here even a container from DB Schenker made it into the wild 😅

DB everywhere

Afterwards I continue through small Romanian towns like Varbilau, Slanic, Drajna de Jos and Slon to my off-road adventure today.

TET Section Varful lui Crai 1472m

The route is difficult but doable with patience. The view is phenomenal. This panorama is priceless.

Groupies

Of course, there are big dogs on the road again - many calm, some more "sociable".

The Romanian Stone Henge is waiting for me on the summit ridge 🤠.

Then the downhill was a thriller. Both ruts suddenly became at least 1m deep. The track is also quite steep and partially wet. TET calls them dragons . There was a narrow ridge in the middle and on the left edge of a few centimeters - now just don't make any mistakes, because I won't be able to get 280kg out of these ruts.

Furrows became 1m and more deep 😰

At some point a Dacia Logan might have come and helped me out (there was one at the top). Anyway, everything went well.

So today I'm experiencing how closely the feelings of fear of catastrophe and invincibility are related. But only because it's dry.

In the valley, nature is pure. The locals relax at the spring or further down the valley at the Buzeau stream with beer and barbecue.

My journey ends today in Sita Buzaului. It took me three attempts to find a place to stay overnight.

After I revealed that I was German, even the Mixt magazine was opened through the back door in the village (Sunday 8pm) and I was able to buy a beer and something to eat. The storks are now omnipresent.
