Day 7 - Monument Valley - Antelope Canyon - Page

Wɔatintim: 22.05.2017

Today our day started at 7:45 am from Mexican Hat.

Our first stop was Monument Valley. After considering whether we should drive the 17-mile dirt road with our own car or not.

That was quickly decided, because after seeing the road, we decided against it and booked a jeep tour with the Indians on site. The prices were steep. The 2.5-hour tour cost 90 dollars per person. But it was well worth it. In addition to the attractions that are accessible to everyone, such as John Ford's Point, we were driven into the interior. Besides many scenic highlights, we also visited an Indian family. Sabrina took a seat and got a new hairstyle on the spot! 🙈

After the fantastic jeep tour, we continued to Antelope Canyon.

In Antelope Canyon, we decided to visit the Lower Canyon.

After a short wait, we started with a small guided group into the canyon. Or so we thought..

After a short walk, we saw masses of people waiting in line to descend into the canyon.

So we had to wait another 45 minutes until we could finally start.

We went down into the stone gorge via a steep ladder.

The sunbeams shining into the canyon were very impressive.

Unfortunately, it was so crowded down there that you felt like you were being herded.

However, in the end, it was still an impressive experience, even though we had to pay another hefty entrance fee. 🙈

After a good 2.5 hours, we headed towards the hotel.

Since it was still relatively early, we decided to drive down to Glen Canyon.

We went down to Wahweap Beach and enjoyed the sun a little before we went to Dennys for dinner.

At the end of the day, it was time to relax in the whirlpool a bit! 😊

Tomorrow we will continue towards Bryce Canyon.
