I manage to pass the night with work, videos, and podcasts. Around 06:00, I take a short nap and at 07:00, we pack our things and explore the lower floors for food. After a 30-minute search that remains completely fruitless, we at least sign our Australian mobile phone contract (60GB data volume for €18!) and later on, we are picked up by the airport shuttle of our new car rental company - very easy.

When we arrive at the car rental company, we unload our things and wait for a quarter of an hour until it's our turn. Well-prepared, the processing of our booking takes only a few minutes and shortly after, we can inspect our mobile accommodation for the next four weeks. At first glance, we are a bit nervous about the distribution of luggage and the space management, but nevertheless, we are more than satisfied.

The first trip we make with the new bus is, as a German potato, to Aldi (Aldi-Süd, to be exact; you can hardly get any more southern than Australia). We buy the essentials for the next few days and weeks (dishwashing liquid, flour, sugar, spices, etc.) and drive directly to the very first camping site. We park next to a small park that has automatic gas grills, seating areas, and toilets. Even in this small, relatively inconspicuous park, we are amazed by the extraordinary birdlife - both visually and audibly. Within minutes, we "discover" ibises, parrots, flying foxes (not a bird, I know), crows, and many other feathered creatures.

Out of sheer tiredness, we set up the bed in the van, close the windows, and catch up on some sleep (especially me). As the afternoon nap turns into evening, we start to cook dinner and sit down on our camping chairs. After a quick wash-up, we make phone calls to friends and family at home and then go to bed.
