1 1/2 weeks with a view

Wɔatintim: 25.02.2019

I spent the last 1 1/2 weeks at Roddy's in Peille while he took a road trip to Switzerland. Everything was pretty easy there as I just had to check the property once a day to make sure everything was okay, and feed the 4 chickens and 2 cats in the morning and evening. That was pretty much all I had to do. Peille is a small village near Monaco and Nice, beautifully situated in the mountains. I had a 24/7 view of Nice, which was simply amazing to wake up and fall asleep to.

The time there was simply fabulous due to the location. I could go hiking in the mountains, for example to the nearby villages of Peillon or Sainte Agnès.

Furthermore, it was also a good starting point for day trips to the nearby cities of the Côte d'Azur. We always left in the morning at 6:30 am by bus to Nice, Monaco or Menton.
Nice is probably familiar to everyone, with its beautiful old town and great promenade. Just the feeling of the city itself was very open and welcoming. It is probably one of the posh cities on the southern coast, along with Monaco.

Monaco, on the other hand, I would describe as a 'paradise for employees'. It is incredible how many people commute there daily by train. The city itself is not necessarily beautiful. There is a beautiful old town around the Prince's Palace, but the rest of the city is overshadowed by traffic and new concrete buildings.

Menton, on the other hand, was not very well known to me beforehand. It is a small town with a historic city center located on the Italian border. Really great for a few hours. At the beginning of the year, there is always the 'fête du citron', where a park is set up with large sculptures made of lemons and oranges. Somewhat wasteful, but still really cool.
