During the last week of volunteer work, we repaired benches and doors at the school or worked in Lemurialand. Since up to 4 children sit at a small desk in the school, they often fall apart during class. In Lemurialand, in addition to cleaning the lemur islands and preparing food, there were also turtles whose shells had to be scrubbed, as well as crocodiles that occasionally wanted a fresh bath.
Last weekend we spent on 'la grande terre', the main island of Madagascar. By taxi-brousse (many people, little space) we traveled to Ankarana National Park, where we spent two nights in a bungalow together with some rats. In the national park itself, we encountered some snakes, lemurs (including two nocturnal ones sleeping), bats, lizards, geckos, and butterflies. Since the rainy season has just begun, we were able to visit a bat cave in addition to the Tsingy Rary, which is not accessible after rainfall.
Now we are spending a few more days at Scuba Nosy Be, enjoying the underwater world, before continuing to New Zealand on Saturday.
