Now we finally flew to the islands.
On Koh Samui we had double bad luck.
1. Actually, the rainy season should have been over for about two weeks, but due to the upcoming tropical storm, the weather was pretty crazy. We had continuous rain for the first two days. And not just rain... but monsoon! When we wanted to walk to the nearest restaurant, the water on the streets reached up to our knees 😀 so both days we went out with plastic bags over us, wearing swimming trunks and flip flops. It was actually a lot of fun 😀 Unfortunately, the entire 3-kilometer-long beach was completely flooded, so all the rubbish had been washed up and only about 30cm of sand was left...
2. We had booked a large house, as three friends from Germany were visiting us. Markus and I were already in Koh Samui before everyone else and searched for the house for over an hour because no one knew the address. Finally, when we arrived at the house, no one was there to unlock it, etc... It was already 8 pm. We then discovered a number at the gate to contact. Then the shocking news: apparently the house was booked and confirmed even though the owner still had guests in the house. He said he would pick us up the next day, but we would need another accommodation for that night. By pure coincidence, our friends met us on the street when we were already frustrated looking for accommodation... they had also heard about the situation. The coincidence was even greater and happier when their taxi driver apparently had a friend who had a vacant apartment. Fortunately, everything worked out and we had a place to sleep... We had already imagined that we would have to sleep on the street (actually on the beach, but it was flooded) 😀 When we were supposed to be picked up the next morning to go to the originally booked house, it suddenly turned out that the house now had a leaky roof and we couldn't move in. So, we had to extend the house stay (Booking.com covered all additional costs for us! Good service 😊).
Due to the chaotic circumstances and the weather, we spent the days in the new house playing card games, swimming in the pool in the rain, chilling, cooking... but it was also quite nice 😀
