After 3 months together in Australia and New Zealand, we have now arrived in Southeast Asia. We are excited to discover a new culture, flora, and fauna. Rahel had already been to Thailand and Indonesia 6 years ago, and I had been to Thailand and Myanmar 3 years ago. So we already had some prior knowledge and knew roughly what to expect, but this only increased our anticipation even more.
We landed in Bangkok, where we stayed for two nights. On the first evening, we immediately met some friends and explored the Kao San Road together, Bangkok's party street. It felt good to see some familiar faces after being away from home for 5 months. The next day, we set out to explore the city with its street food stalls and shops. Unfortunately, it was midweek and there were no amazing markets happening.
Since our hostel was right next to a canal, we took a canal tour. Sometimes, it felt like we were cruising through people's kitchens and living rooms, as their lives take place outside and alongside the canal.
After two nights in Bangkok, we joined another Swiss travel group :) and headed south to the islands of Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Our holiday of traveling begins there. :D
