Dalyan

Wɔatintim: 23.08.2024

5 days spent in Dalyan.

We love this mystical little village by the Dalyan River, which is separated from the sea by Turtle Island. Only a small passage separates freshwater from salty seawater.

As in the last year, we had very nice encounters with locals and learned a lot about the original life of the Turks.

I took a crash course at the hairdresser on how to remove nose and ear hair and, of course, took everything with me to apply it in Germany 😂😂

There was delicious Turkish food, like Manti, Icli Köfte, lentil soup, farmer's salad, and Lahmacun—just to name a few things that make the scale explode.

We shopped like world champions... and of course, everything was original designer clothes 🤪🤪 spices, etc.

We also had to find a hospital for the 3rd rabies vaccination, which after two attempts finally worked. There again, it was an absolute hygienic disaster. I was really lucky to be vaccinated with a new needle while standing in the hallway between used utensils and paint buckets. Injured and sick people were lying everywhere... I only actually know that from movies. I really don't want to be sick here. I got my vaccination here for 1.05 Euro. In Germany, it costs 60 Euros as a self-payer... you really don’t have to understand that.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we stayed in a hotel 🥴🥴 there are no campsites in Dalyan... unfortunately... We paid a lot for the hotel, and it wasn't worth 2 stars. But the dogs could breathe freely and enjoy the coolness. Otherwise, as always, we were the main attraction when we were out with our furry friends in the cart 😂😂 everyone wanted to take pictures, and some street dogs looked on enviously. Being on a cooling mat with fans that sprayed a light cooling mist while being jostled on the streets is also quite extraordinary 😂😂

In general, I was more fed up with the many street dogs and cats. They showed openly aggressive behavior towards our dogs, and we often found ourselves in situations where we had to carry the hind ends to protect them... always at the risk of being attacked ourselves... very unpleasant. Also, there was never a relaxed meal... there were always up to 6 cats on and around the tables bothering the tourists.

Today, we set off on our way back home, 3000 km away 😫 which somehow isn't as exciting as the journey there... vacation is just over.
