Farewell to the Lofoten Islands

Wɔatintim: 09.08.2022

Sunshine from early morning until evening. Today the weather was perfect for a hike. So we headed to A.

Unfortunately, that was not only our plan, but also the plan of many, many tourists who are traveling in the Lofoten Islands.

Therefore, we had to park the car somewhere on the side of the road, hoping there would be no parking ticket.

Afterwards, we went directly to the hiking trail. After a hundred meters, we took the first break for a lunch snack and then another 500 meters further for a dam building session. But by 4:00 PM, we were full and rested to embark on the 'real' hike along lakes and mountains.

The weather was good and there were spectacular sights to see - waterfalls, tall mountains, the sea nearby - we even spotted 3 sea eagles (as they were being chased away by crows).

We booked the ferry from A to Bodo for 11:45 PM - unfortunately, there were no available seats during the day. But it went quite well with napping beforehand, sleeping on board, and then spending a few more hours at a parking spot at the destination.

In summary, the Lofoten Islands are certainly worth recommending. Unfortunately, they are very crowded and along with the cramped space and the limited tourist infrastructure, it was sometimes hectic and the enjoyment was a bit limited.

Andoy with Andenes, Bleik, the west coast is also very spectacular and beautiful and is not as touristy.

PS: If the photos are not as beautiful and spectacular in the future, it is because Sina is no longer with us ;-)
