After the paths of the Ingelheim Connection had separated at Brisbane airport, I headed towards Robina on the Gold Coast to visit the Commander aka Dominik Mattes Arnold. As I said, I did it, got on the train, put on my iPod, and 1.5 hours later I was already in Villa No. 7 in the Varsity Shores complex!
After the first few days were characterized by bad weather, it has been good weather for about 7 days now, which has helped freshen up my tan.
Since I'm using the name Dominik Arnold here, I can also use all the facilities (GYM, POOL), etc. However, I have to tell a short anecdote about it. Since I don't really have an ID, Dominik and I had to share his ID during our first workout together. Unfortunately, the handover under the counter didn't go as smoothly as planned, which prompted the nice lady at the front desk to take a closer look at me. Since I wasn't quite fluent with the student ID at that time, she took a closer look at the picture. 'Are you really Dominik? In my desperation, I took off my cap and said, 'Sure, my hair is somehow shorter, and I am a bit more tanned than in the picture, but it's still me.' That was enough for her and off we went!!!
During my time at Bond ;-) I met some really nice people who I had a lot of fun with. Volleyball, pool, and visits to the gym made time fly by.
3 weeks on the Gold Coast are coming to an end and tomorrow evening I'm going to Melbourne on a 35-hour bus marathon! The guys left for Fiji this morning, but since I couldn't get a bus over Easter, I'll just stay one more day and hope the weather is better tomorrow so I can spend the whole day by the pool, because unfortunately all the facilities are closed.
I'd like to give special thanks to Steve Bachman and the Commander. Reunion in Cologne 2012 and bachelor party and wedding, of course. I think we can do it all in one weekend.
