On Monday of the second week, we took a trip to the Samana Peninsula.
After a 2-hour bus ride, we continued on a speedboat to Bacardi Island (the name says it all). A dream beach with crystal clear water, pure Caribbean. We spent lively hours there and ate excellently.
Then we continued by boat towards Samana. We docked in a turbulent small town and were driven to a waterfall in the inland by trucks.
However, to get to the waterfall, we had to ride horses. Demian, Dirk's horse, took off and ran into the jungle due to stress. Well, I felt some pity.
To reach the lower part of the waterfall, we had to overcome 270 difficult steps, and that in what felt like 42 degrees Celsius. Dirk immediately gave up, but Sylvia was determined.
After a long three-quarters of an hour, Sylvia finally made it back, although she could hardly stand on her feet.
We returned with the truck, the boat, and the bus. Dirk thought he had left his bag on the boat, but it wasn't there anymore. He got upset... In the end, Dirk had actually left the bag on the bus, well.
We didn't return to the hotel until 8:30 PM.
