Arrival

It was planned that I would be at BER Airport on 14.08.2024 at 10:00 AM, with a flight to Istanbul at 1:15 PM, a flight to Kigali at 6:50 PM, and finally arriving at 1:00 AM at my destination. Ultimately, I arrived at BER at 10:00 AM, but due to a 4-hour delay, I didn't leave for Istanbul until 5:00 PM. Naturally, this made it impossible to catch the connecting flight. So I had to spend a night in the Turkish capital - courtesy of Turkish Airlines in the most luxurious hotel I will probably ever stay in. Back at the airport, I was on my way to East Africa, this time on schedule, leaving at 6:35 PM. After a 7-hour flight and navigating through a thunderstorm somewhere in the perpetually humid tropics, I finally arrived in Kigali in one piece, where I was warmly welcomed by my boss and the regional coordinator Dominique and driven to my future residence. Thus, my journey ended at 2 AM on my couch in Kamuhoza, Kigali - after 42 hours.
