2022-June-Binz for Wanderers - Part 3 - Binz to Sellin

Wɔatintim: 15.06.2022

The Baltic Sea resort Binz scores primarily with its wonderfully long sandy beach. As far as the eye can see, only sand and water.

One might think that the entire coast of Rügen should look like this. That is, of course, not the case. Even the neighboring town of Sellin cannot be reached via a coastal path. We tried it, but like everyone else, we failed.

Having tested hikes in France or Italy, we simply wanted to walk along the rocky coast. But at some point, there were only fallen trees in front of us. Even significantly younger nature lovers declared the mission a failure and returned with us.

We had specifically put on our hiking shoes and then had to walk along a regular forest path. I recommend this one to you, as it is well developed and signposted. Depending on the starting point, you will hike approximately 6.5 km through the Granitz forest area.

Sellin is slightly higher up than Binz. The shorter beach is therefore not at the same level as the hotels. However, there is an elevator to go down, which also makes the pier easier to reach.

All in all, a beautiful tour. And if your legs are hurting in Sellin, you can also take the bus or the famous Rasender Roland (historic narrow-gauge railway) for the return journey.
