After a quiet night at the campsite, it rained the next morning. So I had breakfast in the rain, took down the wet tent in the rain and set off in the rain. I had imagined the véloscénie to be a beautiful landscape, but it was pretty boring at first and led along roads with little traffic. Around midday the rain eased a bit, the paths became more beautiful and led past a few really pretty "houses". To dry off a bit, I sat down for lunch in the first and only restaurant on the route in a mini village. To my surprise, it was very chic and expensive, but I have never eaten as well as there in all of France. In the evening the sun came out and I was able to dry the wet tent again and relax a bit.
Now the other cyclists on the véloscénie appeared. I made friends with a couple from Karlsruhe and we set off together the next day. Unfortunately it rained non-stop and the cycle path was very muddy, so we arrived at the next campsite completely wet and dirty. We were allowed to set up camp in a garage (with huge spiders in the corners) to hang up our things and cook in the dry. The stage would have been really tough alone in these conditions. So thanks to Marcel and Christiane for the great company!
