After a lot of hustle and bustle, I arrived in tropical Darwin late in the evening yesterday. What a difference in humidity compared to the past few days. Everything feels moist. The wet season is beginning here now. There were several heavy downpours during the multi-hour drive to Kakadu National Park. The first green is sprouting from the charred earth caused by bushfires during the dry season. Where the water collects in shallow ponds, there are now armies of waterbirds.
In the late afternoon, I took a trip to Aboriginal rock art sites, which are only a kangaroo's hop away from our accommodation (about 40 km).
