6th - 8th September 2022 - Split

Wɔatintim: 13.09.2022

We are leaving Bosnia. The breakdown in Sarajevo has noticeably shortened our stay. Well, that's fine, it gives us more time at the sea.

For me, the journey through Bosnia was beautiful, interesting, but also exhausting. Every campsite was located by a river, but also by a main road. And everywhere there are many dogs, wild and private. They perform a dog concert in the early morning hours, for free, but not in vain. I am awake. Together with the traffic, this only offers a limited restful sleep.

Otherwise, Bosnia is not very charming either. The people are like the landscape, rather rugged, but friendly. Especially if you address them with a few words in Bosnian.

The consequences of the war can still be felt today. This is evident in the concentration of ethnic groups in different parts of the country and cities. One has a constant feeling of mistrust. Will we go back? We'll see.

So on to Croatia, more precisely to Split. I haven't really looked into the city, I'm primarily looking forward to the mild Mediterranean climate.

The campsite, twelve kilometers east of the center, is huge and yet fully booked. We still get a spot in the tent area. The pretty stands of trees and many hedges break up the size.

Our spot in Split.
Beach of the campsite

On the first day, we ride our bikes to Split. We want to go along the sea, which fails because a local sends us along the main road. We manage to get back with Maps and a little patience.

Split is dominated by the Diocletian's Palace from the fourth century. It is really interesting how it has been integrated into the cityscape over the centuries.

On the second day, we chill on the beach and take a taxi in the evening to have dinner in the center.

... and fulfillment.
