Today the fish fly low

Wɔatintim: 14.04.2023

Since we are flying again in two days, Jeani offered to drive us to Seattle again.

First we went to the old Central Market and then briefly to downtown.

The highlight of the market was a fish stand where fish were tossed through the air every few minutes. The fish vendors shouted incomprehensible things to each other and then one of them surprised the onlookers with a huge fish that was caught in the crowd.

There was a special attraction at a side exit of the market. On a length of 10 meters, the walls on both sides of the path were about two meters high and covered in chewing gum. You couldn't see a spot on the wall anymore and we saw people sticking new chewing gums on it repeatedly.

As we continued, we saw a huge crowd in front of a Starbucks. It was the first Starbucks that opened and people wanted to see the interior and of course claim that they had a coffee from the first Starbucks. Heike would have liked to see it too, but the rest of the family had discovered a store where ice cream and chocolate were free. We were initially unsure because we couldn't believe that you could just get a huge ice cream sundae with cream, sprinkles, and sauce for free. So we asked other ice cream eaters, they couldn't believe it either, but they were sure that you didn't have to pay anything. So we had the pleasure of enjoying one of the tastiest ice cream sundaes we've had on the trip.

We weren't impressed with the city center. It reminded us too much of the city of the gray men in Momo. Jeani took us to a mall. The best thing about it was that there were toilets. Because if you've ever been to a mall in Oman or Chile, you have high expectations. We were surprised that many stores in downtown were closed, even large department stores. Heike was particularly saddened by the closed GAP store.

Afterwards, we drove home again.

It was a beautiful and interesting day in Seattle.
