4.11.18 Ranthambore National Park

Wɔatintim: 05.11.2018

Today is safari day. We are ready at 6:30 a.m. to get into the safari vehicle, we are traveling in a 6-seater jeep with two older American couples. Shortly after entering the park, we encounter the first deer and stags. Followed by the first highlight of the day, the leopard. He is shy and hides, but his printed fur is clearly visible. For the first time, I see him so beautiful in the wilderness. We drive around the park and are searching for tigers. They are said to have 60 of them. Meanwhile, I enjoy being on the road, in the fresh air, the peace and the beautiful landscape. Shortly before the end of the safari, we have extremely good luck and see a female tiger, she is only about 3m away and we can observe her hunting deer. We consider ourselves very lucky and grateful to have seen the tiger so close on the first safari.

Back at the hotel from 1001 Nights, we enjoy breakfast and relax at the dreamlike pool. Vanessa has seen many pools, this one is definitely one of the most beautiful.

On the afternoon safari, we have less luck, one of our safari mates does not have their passport with them, we were informed that we must have it. So we drive to a distant park entrance. It is exciting to drive through the streets of India in the open safari vehicle, and we also see the great poverty in the countryside. These children cannot go to school and once again we feel privileged to have been born in Switzerland. Back to the safari, after over an hour, we are in the park, but we don't see any animals except for a few deer and antelopes. Instead, we get extremely shaken on the bumpy roads.

As a reward for this, I treat myself to a wonderful, relaxing Indian massage upon returning, before we go for dinner with Indian barbecue, it's delicious.
