This morning, what the weather forecast had promised happened. It's raining, for the first time on my tour, and it's pouring. We were prepared for it, but well... nevertheless, our stage today is long, so we fortified ourselves with breakfast. We bought lunch at Migros and marched out in our rain gear. Shortly after Meiringen, we went steeply uphill towards Reichenbach Falls. These are world-famous, not least thanks to Sherlock Holmes. The rain makes them even more impressive, so they have a lot of water. Soon the path becomes less steep and leads us up to the Gross Scheidegg for kilometers. The rain clouds slowly dissipated and it dried up. This allowed us to imagine the dreamlike mountains towering above us. We encountered chamois, marmots, and many mushrooms. Hiking together is a great change and I am enjoying it very much. After about 4 hours, we reached the Gross Scheidegg. But it was so windy that we soon moved on and enjoyed our picnic with the sun on our faces a bit further down, which we hadn't expected in the morning. As we descend, the mountains reveal themselves, we recognize the Wetterhorn, the north face of the Eiger is still hidden, we keep guessing what is behind the clouds and which puzzles are revealed to us. Another constant companion is the post bus from Meiringen to Interlaken, the road over the Gross Scheidegg is very narrow. This ride must also be an experience. However, after 6 hours, almost 23km and 1450 meters of altitude on foot, we reach the Hotel Lauberhorn. A small hotel run by a sporty couple, it would also be something for Patrick, it even has a trail running information corner. On the magnificent terrace, we are rewarded with an Aperol before we go down to the Hotel Eiger for dinner, there are many Asians there and they are all eating fondue... Exhausted, we fall back into the hotel after the walk and a wonderful day, into dreamland.
