Every journey makes you lean, so back again.
Check-in and luggage drop-off was faster than expected, and with 19kg and 15kg of luggage allowed for 20kg, that's almost professional level. Now, just to the gate, and then the journey can begin.
Boarding Completed and we are allowed to board the huge A380, which has plenty of space even in Economy Class.
Stretching our legs and occasionally standing up is not a problem at all. Each guest receives a pillow, a blanket, and headphones. The plane starts and everything tingles. Excitement? Turbines? Maybe both.
3:30 PM Departure from Frankfurt Airport to Dubai, next to Debbie, an Asian person who is still sleeping before takeoff. (Respect)
4:30 PM too excited to sleep, let's have a drink first.
Emirates entertainment is super boring, so we won't get bored.
5:30 PM There's food.
We ordered a regular and a low-fat menu each. The food is surprisingly good, fresh, perfectly cooked, and still warm.
Cameras are attached to the plane, totally interesting. After sunset above the clouds, you can't see anything anymore.
9:00 PM just before landing there are hot refreshment towels, just the right thing now.
9:30 PM Landing in Dubai -> Local time 11:30 PM
1:00 AM Boarding on a Boeing 777, less space, less entertainment. But now it's time to sleep anyway.
2:00 AM no sleeping for now, first breakfast in the middle of the night. Croissant with butter and jam.
But now, sleep, cover yourself well, it's cold on the plane.
We wake up over Thailand and have to fill out a visa form, overwhelmed at first because our professions don't fit into the boxes. With a little translation help from Verena from a distance (thanks to 20MB onboard Wi-Fi), we made it.
4:30 PM (March 30, Friday) Local time landing in Manila, 31°C, out of the airport. It's warm. Very warm. Debbie's cousins, Cedee and JD, pick us up with an Uber.
Exchange money and buy a SIM card for 30 days. It gets dark.
Finally arrived.
Goodbye.
