Comfortably, we set the alarm clock three times later in the morning so that we finally get up shortly before 9 am. Marco goes to the office first to extend our stay at the campsite by one night. This works well as we asked the day before if this might be possible.
We now have the whole day and don't have to look for the next place. Our plan is to go to the larger village of Apollo Bay, which is 5 km away. We get ready and take off. We park Yoshi on a beachside parking lot and walk through Apollo Bay on foot. Peaceful and cool place.
But what do we do now? It's about 12 o'clock and we haven't made big plans. After a short check at the beach, we spontaneously go to a surf shop and rent a board. We attempt to surf the waves of Australia. Point 1: The water is cold. Our long sleeve shirts from shopping are great, but it's still cold :) Point 2: Sarah manages to stand on the wave on her 3rd attempt - yeah braaa / dude / mate! Then it's Marco's turn. His attempts fail - no luck with the waves or rather incompetence. Anyway, it's time for a break.
After the warm-up and cracker break, Marco takes the board and starts set 2. And lo and behold, he's surfing ;) Afterwards, Sarah takes the board and rides some waves. Cool thing to do as a beginner without a surf school. The question when returning the board: 'Did you stand some waves?'. We: 'Yes'. She: 'Really?'.
Comfortably, we treat ourselves to a coffee with a Nutella Fudge and chill on the stylish chairs.
After buying some groceries, we cruise back to the campsite and now it's 'pumped full'. We can barely park Yoshi. But that's ok, we secured the spot in the morning. We end the successful day with a delicious coconut pad thai dish. We like Apollo Bay!
