Hello everyone!
The day before yesterday we went to the Blue Mountains. Originally, we wanted to do a guided tour, but then found out that it's super easy to explore on our own since there are plenty of public transportation options available.
In the morning, we took the train from Central Station to the Blue Mountains. After two hours, we reached our first stop: Wentworth Falls. We hiked the small loop there and although we didn't see the waterfalls from below, we still had a beautiful view. And with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, we didn't feel like doing the 5-hour walk with thousands of steps. After the waterfalls, we took the bus to the famous 'Three Sisters'. The bus stopped right at a crowded lookout platform. We then hiked to various other lookout platforms from there. The view was always gorgeous, but at some point, we felt like we had seen the Blue Mountains from every possible angle and decided to head back and use the train ride for a little nap.
The landscape is truly impressive, although we didn't expect there to be so many people living there and small towns scattered throughout the national park.
Later, we'll be heading into the city to secure a spot for the fireworks. Unlike many others, we decided not to camp at the Opera House and hope that we'll still get a good view of the fireworks. Wishing you all a Happy New Year, we'll talk to you again in 2017.
See you then, Maren and Sarah
