On Tuesday, after breakfast, I rode the scooter back to Chiang Mai. This time alone, but with music in my ears, off we go. We rode through the mountains again. When we reached the top, it was quite drizzly through the clouds and a bit chilly. At least during the ride. As soon as we stopped, it was fine. But when we arrived at the bottom of the valley, I stopped briefly on the road to have lunch. This time, I had a kind of roast pork with rice. Very delicious and very cheap again. The best food is always by the roadside.
On Wednesday, we finally headed south. I've really enjoyed the journey so far, even the north with its jungle and great views was super super beautiful, but I needed water. 😁
So, in the morning, we went to the airport. Unfortunately, the ticket was ridiculously expensive because I booked two days before, but it had to be done. That's why I'll save on the next nights. 😋
At 11:35 a.m., we took off from Chiang Mai to Phuket right on time. I didn't know exactly where yet. I had only booked the flight so far and didn't really know whether the east or west coast. After a two-hour flight, we landed. At the airport, I spontaneously decided on Patong on the west coast. It may be known as a tourist spot, but it has a big beach and that's exactly what I needed now.
Upon arrival, you are bombarded with taxi drivers, but I politely declined and walked a bit further. Outside the airport, there were also bus stops, but they were cheaper. So, I took an Airport Express and an hour later, I arrived at my hotel, which was right on the beach and only cost 20 euros per night. Tomorrow, I'll move on. Heading to Phuket Old Town to catch a ferry from there.
As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I headed straight to the water... The water was warm, but still pleasant in over 30 degrees outside. And yes, I had a permanent smile on my face... Now the relaxing vacation begins.
Today, I'll explore the city. As they say, the first nights in a new city are always the funniest. 😎
