Last week we continued south along the coast of the Black Sea. In Mamaia we met Annemarie and Hans again and spent two relaxing days. After that, we continued to Vama Veche, an old hippie town that is still alternative today, where we could camp wild right by the sea with Knut.
In the three weeks we were in Romania, we really fell in love with the country and its people. But there are still a few more countries on our list, so we crossed another border and entered Bulgaria. We continued along the Black Sea coast, stopping in Balchik, Obzor, and Sozopol along the approximately 300 km stretch. The season hasn't started yet, so many places seemed deserted. But that didn't bother us! Of course, there are many large hotels along the coast, but we were able to avoid them quite well thanks to our mobility. The weather is gradually getting warmer and the rainy days are becoming fewer - it only poured down on the day we were doing our laundry!
For the last 60 kilometers in Bulgaria, we chose a very modest road on the map. After two hours of driving in second gear, countless potholes, and well-distributed contents of the cupboards, we finally arrived at the border to Turkey.
Crossing the border, we immediately felt closer to the orient - Turkish sounds on the radio, honking minibuses, fumes, and bustling streets.
Today we arrived in Istanbul and have moved into a hostel for the next few days! We're just going to explore the city now :)
