2. Fa Trotternish hyɛ no agyirae

Today was the second day to Trotternish. Our first walk was to the Cave of Gold. This cave, surrounded by hexagonal basalt columns, is Skye's answer to Fingal's Cave on Staffa. Due to volcanic activities, the land pushed upwards and formed these wonderful formations. Afterwards, we drove around the northern end of Trotternish and stopped in Staffin, where we took a lunch break. After having something delicious to eat and drink, we hiked a four-kilometer route down to An Corran. This is a beach where footprints of the 10-meter long carnivorous Megalosaurus were found, which lived here 165 million years ago. Unfortunately, its footprints were just under water as we arrived at high tide. Tomorrow, on my birthday, we will go there again in the morning and have a picnic on the sandy beach. Hopefully, we will also discover the footprints. After a short walk back, we got back in the car, made another stop at Kilt Rock (a rock formation that looks like a colorful kilt due to volcanic activities and lava flows), and then drove home. The weather had changed drastically within a few minutes. It became hazy, foggy, and wet. We are now spending a pleasant evening in our house.
