Day 4 begins with a trip to the Brooklyn Bridge. We take the subway, 9 stations to Fulton Street. Once we got off there, we followed the sun. The sun doesn't shine through the tall buildings, it casts a dark shadow on the streets. The only thing that gets through the buildings is the icy wind.
Arriving at the Brooklyn Bridge, we first followed the crowd. Everyone wanted to cross the bridge.
As we walk along the bridge, the sun rays warm us up a bit. We are not used to this anymore, so we pull our scarves up to our chins.
Back from the crowd, we head towards Wall Street. The street of the stock exchange. Everything around the New York Stock Exchange building is blocked off. From a distance, we could see the stock market ticker displaying the values of individual companies. In the middle of the square, there's a big Christmas tree with lights. It was probably paid for with our stocks 😉
Another landmark of the stock exchange is the bull. Touching its most valuable part (the testicles) is said to bring luck. No, Renzo and Martín did not want to touch it. They were jealous that the bull's testicles were bigger.
We continued along the 9/11 Memorial towards the subway. We took it at the Oculus. The Oculus is a white building that shows two large wings from the outside. Inside the Oculus, there are some shops and the subway station.
We were hungry and had to find something to eat on this Christmas day. Today, 90% of everything was closed here.
Attempts at Ellen's Stardust Diner and the Hard Rock Café failed. Waiting times of at least 1 hour... by chance, we stumbled upon a trattoria. So we had Italian food today.
In the evening, we went to Brooklyn. We looked at the decorated houses in a residential area.
We collected some good inspirations for next year's decorations.
Jessi wants a nutcracker, Cinzia wants more lights, and Giada didn't know where to look.
You could say Americans are crazy.
In this sense, we wish you a good night! 😊
