Eeek, there was just a scorpion in my bathroom!!!! I had to call for help. Now I'm looking in all the corners and I'm afraid to get my shoes from the closet. How spooky! I should have taken a selfie with it, but I didn't have the nerves for that.
On Thursday evening, we're meeting with all the volunteers and the EducationPlus team at Keeley's house. Maggie suggested it because it's Thanksgiving that day. Everyone should bring something to eat. Something that is typical for their home country. What dish is “typical German”? Schweinshaxe? I couldn't think of anything at first. You also have to be able to get the ingredients. I decided to make a dish that my mother used to cook frequently and that I occasionally make as well: carrot stew. Carrots and potatoes are available everywhere here. I'm just not sure about the meat component. Meatballs? Then I would have to transport ground meat at thirty degrees without refrigeration. Or Kassler? Or sausages? I went to Maxi-Pali this morning to get product information. The whole supermarket is a freezer. It's not allowed to stay in here for more than 30 minutes, otherwise your body temperature drops below a healthy level. Seriously.
If anyone has another brilliant recipe idea, please let me know!
