On the 9th day of our trip, some relaxation was planned. We slept in, had a leisurely breakfast, took our little walk, and watched the boats and seagulls at the lake. For days, we had seen numerous visitors at the lake doing stand-up paddling, so today we decided to give it a try. It was the first time for Mom to try this water sport, Dad had a bit of a head start with 1 practice session. We happily walked to the rental shop and were lucky enough to start right away. Finn got a life jacket and got to ride with Dad on the board, Mom had enough to do as a beginner on her own. After a short explanation, we got on the board and onto the water. While the men paddled comfortably to the other side of the lake, Mom could only move at a snail's pace and still worked up a sweat (it's all a matter of technique).
After 1 hour, our fun was over and we relaxed at the motorhome. After lunch, we rode our bikes to the butterfly house in the neighboring village. It was a kind of large tropical greenhouse with hundreds of butterflies. These beautiful creatures fluttered around us in wonderful colors and could be admired. The largest specimens were as big as an adult's hand. In addition to butterflies, there were also 2 huge iguanas, numerous ducks and turtles, 1 crocodile, some spiders, frogs, and fish to see. All in all, it was a great exotic excursion. The high humidity in the house made us sweat again, so the 30 degrees outside the house felt like a cool down. Back at the campsite, we went to the lake until the day came to an end.
