I'm not going to write anymore that things didn't turn out as expected :-) that's just part of it.
This morning I woke up a little later than I wanted. When I woke up at half past four I thought I would have a quick nap. It was an hour later than I wanted when I woke up.
Then it was time to take down the tent and warm up the milk for the muesli. We set off refreshed and that was necessary. The day was full of surprises.
At the beginning everything went according to plan and we were able to follow beautiful paths that led through the forest past meadows in nature, just as we were used to.
Around midday there were a few road closures due to flooding... we managed to avoid one of them but then we suddenly found ourselves standing in water on a track. We, or rather I, thought that it wouldn't be a problem. Well, we managed it with our heavy donkeys, but it wasn't easy. The soggy ground quickly stuck to the tires and it was like driving on soap. Only the soap was brown.
A little later it started to rain so we dug out our rain jackets.
We had lunch in a small village on a village square. We still had leftovers (cordon bleu) and I bought some mayonnaise and we fried yesterday's bread in olive oil. So we had a delicious sandwich "plus" and a few tomatoes and, strengthened, we moved on. By lunchtime we had already done over 50km.
Now the closures didn't get any better and it was always a balancing act as to whether we should ride on the main road or the lovely cycle path. Most of the time we could ride on the cycle path but one time there was no warning sign and suddenly there was a very large "puddle". I rode through it alone on my bike. It was as deep as I thought it would be. About 40cm. So that Urs didn't ride through it without being able to continue afterwards, I rode a little further alone and it quickly became clear that the other "puddles" were not to be overcome. So we went back and took a detour up the hill to our destination.
We arrived at the campsite in Angers at five in the evening. We set up the tent and went shopping in Angers, 9km away. It was Sunday and not many shops were open. We drove 9km back and then had a shower and then cooked.
Dinner consisted of rice and curry sauce and a couple of fine sausages. To start with, there was a carrot and celery salad.
Urs was so kind and did the dishes while I called home.
Now we are sitting in a warm lounge and enjoying the evening in comfort.
