Happy Easter in Meningie on 28.03.2016

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny even visited us on the farm :-D ;-). There was a sweet Easter egg with candy for each employee in the office.

It's the little things that make employees smile ;-).

It's almost April 1st and we only have two weeks left until our visa expires. We couldn't apply for the second year yet because we had some paperwork to take care of. But now it's really time to do it.

Australians don't celebrate Easter as much as we do at home. It's just some days off, people give each other some candy and go camping. No one goes out to eat at a restaurant or has any rituals like Easter egg hunts.

Jenny had to work at the cafe a lot during our Easter weekend even though there was nothing happening there..Today on Easter Monday, we're just doing nothing. Lying in bed, drinking tea, watching DVDs :-). It's getting colder here and even Mike is starting to feel cold.

Toni, we're thinking of you - unfortunately, we're not going to the Easter Hit Marathon in Hamburg together this year.

At least we were able to take care of our car problem a little bit, Mike did some research on the internet and we now know that we can definitely get the sensors cheaper online. But to not order too hastily, Mike wanted to call Ford in Adelaide after the holidays and ask again which sensors we need, just to be 100% sure. The problem is that there are also some differences in the sensors here and the prices also vary quite a lot.

We used our last free weekend with Tatjana and Viktor to make some really nice schnitzel (in the Friesian way :-P) and pasta salad (in the Wege way). We definitely ate too much that evening :-D.

To treat ourselves a little bit, now that we're almost at the end - and not necessarily necessary - we bought a new laptop :-D. The little one that we have was really annoying us, so it was time for a change. And it will also make it easier to apply for the second visa because the laptop doesn't crash anymore when we're on the second tab on the internet. Our new favorite is a Dell and you can even play some computer games on it =). After a while, things can get pretty boring here.. the next city with a park and a supermarket is only 15 minutes away but there's not much else to do than sitting in the park.

Well, we spent a few afternoons there recently to update our games using the WiFi available there. To get back to the point that things can get pretty boring here - Adelaide (the nearest real city) is also 160 km away and if we only have one day off, it's not really worth going there. We also got a cheap bicycle because we always have to drive to the farm (3 km) and Jenny often needs the car to go to the cafe.

Regarding the work situation, Mike hasn't worked on the milking grid for a whole week and we both have been working on the construction site all day.

We're also laying some rubber mats on the yard for the cows. The stable (the construction site) is also taking shape. We're curious to see how far everything will be when we leave the farm. Last week, we cemented the ground together with the construction workers. Jenny even got to drive the concrete mixing truck. (Unfortunately, we don't have a photo of that). Other than that, we're doing well and we hope that there won't be any problems with the application for the second visa.
