Day 14: Warwick

Wɔatintim: 21.07.2023

We start our day relaxed, take our time, have a cozy breakfast, pack our things, and start our drive towards the west around 10 o'clock. We are on the crowded highways and the mood is tense. After almost 90 minutes, we reach Coventry. First, we head to a Lidl parking lot. There are a few instant noodles for everyone and then we buy some groceries at Lidl. Now we drive the remaining kilometers to the city center and quickly find the selected parking lot. We pay for parking and start our city tour. The drive into the city already shows us the many cultures and partly impoverished conditions. This condition continues in the city center as well. There are many young people on the street. The city is modern and has only a few historical buildings. It was bombed during World War II and many of the houses were destroyed. We visit a church and the children receive clipboards with search images to find. This gives us the opportunity to take a closer look. Then we look for an old hospital, built in Tudor style in 1509. Since we find the city too modern and unappealing, we move on after an hour. After a short drive, we reach Warwick and our campsite. We have a cup of coffee and settle in. Then we explore the small town. We like it here much better. There are many historical half-timbered houses and flower baskets hang everywhere. We only see Warwick Castle from the outside. Due to the high admission price of almost 30 pounds per person, we decide not to visit. Nevertheless, we catch a few glimpses of the castle and enjoy our 90-minute walk. Back at the campsite, the children build a hideout and we watch the other campers.
