Beer, Culture and Perspectives

Wɔatintim: 30.07.2023

Brno or Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, with a castle, churches and a wonderfully preserved historic city center. For us, the city was on the way and a few nights in a real bed plus the call of our laundry for a real washing machine lured us here. As usual, when you expect little, we were surprised.

Brno is young and vibrant, as seen in the evening with excellent beer or public DJing, also with excellent beer, and in the many parks and open spaces - there are young people everywhere, chatting, chasing their children (and/or dogs) through the fountain or simply enjoying life.

Brno is very, very attractive! A large historic city center largely without cars and without garbage, but with many small shops and even more pubs and cafes (you can't starve in the Czech Republic), a castle with a panoramic view and a lot of liveliness in the open courtyards.

Brno is very culturally open! A large number of museums and galleries tempt you to linger. We were absolutely enthused by the Museum of Applied Arts (www.moravska-galerie.cz) and the Museum of Roma Culture (www.rommuz.cz), because both places invited the visitor to immerse themselves in peace and with great attention to detail.

Our hotel was in the district where many Sinti and Roma also live. The dynamics in Brno are like in any big city, where property prices rise and home ownership displaces the original inhabitants, so it is to be hoped that many offers for learning, doing sports and meeting for the group will remain here and new and old residents will share the district.

Brno was really nice and now we continue to Slovakia, always going east...
