Himeji Castle and Kobe

Wɔatintim: 11.10.2019

It seems like everyone had a good sleep on their beds and now it was time for a typical Japanese breakfast. Not everyone could start the day with fish, but we tried it and are very glad to have experienced this Japanese day/night in Kinosaki. Our shoes were already waiting for us at the entrance for our onward journey.

Until just after noon, we were on the train to Himeji, with a longer stop where Miyuki could meet her mother and Karin could meet her grandmother.

Upon arrival in Himeji, we stored our suitcases in lockers and walked towards the castle in hot temperatures. Supplied with plenty of water and occasional ice cream, we visited Japan's most famous castle. The castle complex, consisting of 83 individual buildings, is considered the most beautiful example of Japanese castle construction.

After a short train ride, we arrived in Kobe, Miyuki's hometown. She booked a beautiful hotel for us right by the harbor, which resembles a ship from the outside.

The view from the room is breathtaking!

We had a short time to freshen up before we split into two groups: 7 of us wanted to enjoy the famous Kobe Beef Steak on the 14th floor of the hotel, and the others ate in the same floor in the Sky Bar.

Afterwards, we met again in the bar for a shared nightcap.
