Uvita Day 2 / Isla del Caño (15.5.22)

Wɔatintim: 16.05.2022

Today, same program for me as for Frank yesterday. Finally, it's time to go diving 😎

Meeting at 7am at the Dive Shop at Costa Rica Dive & Surf (2 minute walk from our Bungalow), register, pay, and get to know the dive buddies over coffee and banana bread. Then, march to the beach, hop on the boat, and a 1.15-hour journey to Isla del Caño (Caño Island). Dolphins accompany us on the way to the island, on both days 😁

Once there, two dives with a short surface interval and then lunch on board in the form of delicious vegetarian burritos 😋

Frank will do his dives 136 & 137 with instructor and buddy Jan at the sites 'Shark Cave' and 'El Arco'. I will do dive 131 and 132 with buddy Natalia from Chile and guide Ariana.

The dives are quite productive: we see rays, blacktip reef sharks (quite large ones), harlequin shrimps (me), a manta ray from a distance, and turtles (Frank). However, we are just too spoiled by diving in Egypt: what they call ''excellent visibility'' here would have passed as ''can we still dive, sorry for the poor visibility'' in Egypt 😂

Nevertheless, we had 4 wonderful dives, made some very nice acquaintances, and each of us had a kid-free day 😜

Unfortunately, my camera broke before the second dive... I'm still hoping for Natalia, who took pictures of practically EVERYTHING she came across....

Dinner tonight was at Mirador Don Roger, right on time for the sunset. I'm not really a fanatic when it comes to sunsets, but this one was truly beautiful with a view over the bay and the Uvita Whale Tail (more on that tomorrow). And then a little gecko visited our table and shared Sebastian's ketchup with him....☺️
