At around 11:30 pm, we arrived in Campo Grande by bus. Originally, we planned to sleep at the train station since the aunt from blablacar was supposed to pick us up at 5:30 am. However, we felt uneasy about the train station, so we spontaneously booked a hostel. We were back at the train station at 5:30 am sharp. At 6:00 am, the woman from Blablacar found us. After squeezing our backpacks into the car, we drove on a major road for a while, then stopped in the middle of the road while she was on the phone. Then she turned around and drove on a highway, turned left at a rest stop on the highway. We waited there for 3 hours to then drive to Florianopolis in a caravan. We constantly stopped at some little town to pick up and drop off people since all 4 cars had people from Blablacar in them. The woman drove like crazy, making us think it was our last day several times 😂.
At 4:00 am, after 23 hours of driving without changing drivers and constant lipstick checks, we finally arrived in Florianopolis. From midnight, I tried to stay awake because I was afraid the woman would eventually get tired. However, I was so exhausted that I eventually didn't care anymore.
When we arrived, the woman tried to cheat us and take more money than agreed. We pretended to be dumb and acted like we didn't understand anything and that we didn't have more cash than agreed. She hissed at us a little annoyed. The receptionist also agreed that we did everything right because she tried to rip us off.
The next day, we celebrated my birthday on the beach with a Caipirinha. In the evening, we had a bottle of wine from the German Weintor, which my friend Judith had been carrying around for days. We also got two Caipirinhas for free from the hostel to celebrate the day.
In the evening, we wanted to try our luck again and eat at a churrascaria. We drove far away, off the island, to get to a good churrascaria. However, it was quite empty and not what we had imagined, so we wanted to go back. The Uber driver was supposed to take us back to the island, but instead, he searched for a churrascaria for a long time. When the guy started to seem a little creepy because he didn't stop searching and didn't take us back, we called a new Uber and ate burgers at a snack bar. Unfortunately, my phone also broke that evening, so I didn't have a phone for 5 days. Despite the strange evening, I had a nice birthday.
The next few days, we spent with Caipirinhas, the beach, and the sea. In between, we had to change hostels because we had only booked it for two nights and it was fully booked.
After 4 days, we continued our journey to Rio.
