The hosts at the hostel in Hikkaduwa were also very friendly and offered me to come back if I don't find accommodation here in Galle. Fortunately, my hostel is still open and so far I even have a 5-bed room all to myself. I also have Wi-Fi here, which I urgently need to organize my return journey as quickly as possible.
You can choose from various dishes for breakfast and in general it is cleaner here and I don't have to share my bed with ants :D The host from Hikkaduwa called me again in the afternoon
to check that I am doing well and if I have found accommodation. So sweet!
After arriving, I visited the fort, which is a fortress built around the old town by the Portuguese and later expanded by the Dutch.
The old town is super beautiful and from the fort you have a great view of the sea. The fort is even part of the UNESCO World Heritage. At lunchtime, I found a small, quiet restaurant and had Kottu and fresh lime juice. It was super delicious!
First of all, I have now registered in the emergency crisis register
of the Foreign Office, so the first important step has been taken.
