Not only America and Australia pursue the one-blanket strategy, but also the Canadians. Consequently, we have a sheet, a blanket, and a bedspread. So far, we have managed quite well with that. I had a bit of sheet and blanket, and the whole bedspread to myself. However, last night, Schahaatz decided that he also wanted some of the bedspread and during the night, he devoured the rest of the blanket. I hate the one-blanket system.
The weather is great today. The sun is shining gloriously, and the temperatures are very pleasant. According to the weather forecast, it will be 26 degrees today.
Today, we have a hike through the Maligne Canyon on the agenda. It is approximately 5 km long with an elevation gain of 110 meters and is classified as medium difficulty. Just right for semi-trained elves like us. After a 20-minute drive,
we reach the parking lot at the 5th bridge.
So we hike uphill and then downhill again, along a breathtakingly beautiful canyon. Fantastic views every 2 meters that must be captured photographically (and used to catch our breath at the same time). After a lengthy discussion about whether we should hike or take pictures here, we agreed to take pictures and hike at the same time.
After 2 hours and 8 minutes, we reach our camper, completely exhausted, drenched in sweat, but with many great impressions.
By now, it feels like we have over 30 degrees in the sun. Siesta in the parking lot.
On the way back, we make a short detour to Jasper City.
A cute little town. We do some shopping, like a tablecloth (because the world is going to the be classy), a grill grate, skewers for the marshmallows, and the marshmallows themselves. Sprite to dilute the beer. "Carsten's alternative facts: Alcohol is really, really expensive here. 15 small cans of beer (worse than Öttinger) cost 20€. If you want something better, you're happy to pay the same price for a six-pack."
And a bear deterrent bell in the Canadian style.
It is unbearably hot, and we lack the desire for another hike. So off to the campsite - chairs in the shade and enjoy the view. -
Vacation.
...and observe wildlife.
Here are a few facts about Canada:
Canada is the second-largest country in the world in terms of land area, with a total area of approximately 10 million square kilometers.
The average population density is 3.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. Canada consists of 10 provinces and 3 territories. We are visiting 2 of them: British Columbia and Alberta.
